Viviene graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Liverpool in 1995 and was called to the English Bar in 1996. In 1998, she was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Viviene is an active Advocate practising in all aspects of dispute resolution with a special focus in Family Law, Employment Law and Negligence (Professional and Personal Injury) Claims. With 25 years of being involved in heavily contested and disputed cases, she has gained considerable exposure and experience in a wide range of legal matters in all levels of the Singapore Court hierarchy.
Viviene has been a mediator with the State Courts and Singapore Mediation Centre since 2010. She received her mediation training from Regent’s University London and the Singapore Mediation Centre, where she is currently a Principal Mediator. She is also a Senior Mediator with the Law Society Mediation Scheme and an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Institute. Viviene has conducted several mediations on a variety of disputes in all the dispute resolution centres in Singapore as well as in her private capacity.
Viviene is also an Assigned Solicitor with the Legal Aid Bureau and a Primary Justice Lawyer at the Community Justice Courts.
In 2017, Viviene received her Arbitration qualifications and become a Fellow with the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, thus enabling her to conduct Mediation – Arbitration.
In 2018, Viviene was awarded the State Court’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award (Advocate & Solicitor Category Winner), in appreciation for her invaluable contributions to the judiciary.
In 2022, Viviene completed certification in the Family Mediation Certification Program jointly organized by the Singapore Mediation Centre and Family Justice Courts of Singapore and the Intellectual Property Mediation Certification Programme jointly organized by the Singapore Mediation Centre and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.
In 2023, Viviene completed the Family Therapeutic Justice Certification Programme jointly organised by the Singapore Academy of Law and Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Viviene aims to help simplify legal processes and ensure that everyone receives good quality legal advice.
There is a notion that women must choose between their career and their family. Viviene has shown us that women can achieve balance in their lives without letting one thing or the other define them. She is a mother of 3 children and enjoys creating beautiful memories with them.
