Viviene Sandhu — Partner
Viviene graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1996. She was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1997 (Middle Temple) and the Singapore Bar in 1998.
Her main area of expertise is in insurance litigation. She has represented many insurance companies, as well as insured claimants on claims and recoveries in relation to ship collisions, motor accidents, personal injury claims, fatal accidents, industrial accidents, water and fire damage, workmen’s compensation and theft.
Currently, Viviene focuses her practice on all manner of personal injury claims, as she believes that victims — who often do not know the intricacies of the Courts — should be fairly compensated for their injuries, which at times can be serious and life changing. In her 18 years in this field, she has been involved in many cases that have set new benchmarks for the amounts awarded for different types of injuries.
Her aim is also to help simplify the otherwise complex process and ensure that everyone receives good quality legal advice.
Viviene’s other area of practice is Family Law. She has handled a broad spectrum of cases ranging from amicable divorces to complex and contentious matters involving the division of matrimonial assets, custody and maintenance in all levels of the Singapore Courts.
Viviene is an Associate Mediator with the State Courts and Singapore Mediation Centre. She is also a former adjunct fellow of the National University of Singapore (2004-2005) and a tutor for the Board of Legal Education’s Postgraduate Practice Law Course (2005-2008).
She is also an Assigned Solicitor with the Legal Aid Bureau and a Primary Justice Lawyer.
Viviene is happily married with three children.
